The University of Manchester is here for you: keeping you safe while delivering world-class learning and creating an unforgettable student experience. One of the UK’s largest universities, Manchester is working to give students the best possible welcome this autumn so that you’ll quickly feel at home in its friendly and creative community.
Your welfare is Manchester’s priority. Following advice from Universities UK, Public Health England and the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, the University is putting a range of measures in place to keep you safe and well, including free washable face masks in your welcome pack and clear guidance on how your teaching spaces, libraries, study spaces and labs will operate safely. You’ll be fully briefed on health and safety as part of your welcome and induction activities. Wellbeing is also a key priority for the University and you’ll find plenty of support available to you to help ease you into your studies and student life.
A melting pot of culture and diversity, the University is working hard to maximise opportunities for you to meet new people, make friends and network by creating events that welcome you online and on campus. You’ll be able to indulge in your interests or pick up a new hobby with a variety of clubs and societies to dive into. Whether you’re on campus or at home, there will be something for everyone.
Adapting and shaping your future is an exciting decision to make. The University is having an extended two-week induction to welcome you to the city in a safe way. Large lectures will take place virtually in the first semester, allowing you to flourish in a safe environment at a pace that suits you, with small group face-to-face meetings with tutors where possible to assist with your understanding. Rest assured, support will always be there for you and you’ll soon feel like you belong.
