We are here to make an impact on Manchester, our region and beyond, with a driving ambition to discover and disseminate knowledge, and make higher education accessible and beneficial to all those with the passion and ability to succeed. With shared traditions of industry, innovation, creativity and inclusivity, Manchester Met is very much a reflection of the city in which we are located.
An environment for you to thrive
We’ve created an amazing place for you to learn and achieve your personal best. Recently opened facilities include a seven-storey purpose-built space for some of our Arts and Humanities disciplines, providing a new home for inspirational teaching, with fully equipped theatre spaces, and TV and radio studios, plus the new Manchester Poetry Library.
In 2021, we welcomed our first students into our new School of Digital Arts (SODA), a £35m investment in the future of digital storytelling, and in early 2022 we opened the new Institute of Sport, a centre of excellence for sport-related research, education and knowledge exchange. In 2023 we expect to open our new Science and Engineering building, complete with contemporary teaching spaces, modern laboratories (including a 200-seat super lab), and social and self-directed learning areas.
Research informed teaching
Our research shapes policy, engages our local communities and impacts the wider world. Many of our academics in sciences, arts, humanities, education, business, health and social sciences are recognised in their industries and are linked to a broad range of industries and professions, allowing you access to real-world experience on both a local and global level.
