Manchester Metropolitan University is a great, modern University, firmly established in the city with roots in higher education that date back to 1824.
With 34,000 students and hundreds of undergraduate, postgraduate and professional courses, the University attracts ambitious students from all backgrounds. We take pride in educating the next generation of legal and business professionals, scientists, engineers, teachers, health workers and creatives, and inspire and support each one to achieve their potential. Located in the heart of Manchester, we work closely with partners, businesses and the wider community – locally, nationally and internationally, and 93% of our graduates are employed/in further education six months after graduating.*
We have more than 310,000 alumni from 144 countries, and around a further 10,000 new graduates join this community each year. Notable alumni include comedian John Bishop, actor John Bradley, former English international rugby union player Mark Cueto MBE and Chief People Officer at McDonald's David Fairhurst.
We want you to have a great time at University and to enjoy living and learning here. While you are having fun, we also want you to stay safe. Guided by the most up-to-date UK government and Public Health England advice, we have made some changes in response to COVID-19. A huge amount of work has gone into planning how you can use our buildings, cafes and learning spaces safely. Our plans will enable us to respond quickly, if circumstances change, so please visit this page regularly for the latest information about COVID-19 safety.
Whether you are a new or a returning student, life can sometimes be challenging and as a University we offer a wide range of support services. For any questions you have about your studies and student life, our Student Hubs will be able to offer great advice or refer you to the relevant specialist support. This may include academic and study skills support to help you achieve your full academic and career potential, or our Wellbeing Advisers who are also members of a larger team including the Counselling and Mental Health Service and the Disability Service. These professionals are here to listen and to help. Finally, you’ll also have access to free sports programmes and classes to boost your physical and mental health and provide a great opportunity to socialise and make friends. Some of these are working in new ways just now, because of COVID-19, but our commitment to helping you has not changed.
